1 in 20 people will live with a rare disease at some point in their life. Despite this, there is no cure for the majority of rare diseases and many go undiagnosed. On 28th February, Rare Diseases Europe, Genetic Alliance UK and many more around the world gathered together to raise awareness of rare diseases while encouraging researchers and decision makers to address the needs of those living with them. Izzie Clarke hears from Royal Holloway's Rafael Yanez about the genetics behind such conditions and also chats with Lucy Dixon who was diagnosed with Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia when she was 4 years old.
